The Kwakiutl District Health, formerly known as LKT Health Society, is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1979 out of the earlier North Island District Council. Representing member First Nations including Kwakiutl First Nation, Mamalilikulla First Nation, Da'naxda'xw First Nation, and Tlatlasikwala First Nation, the council is dedicated to upholding principles rooted in aboriginal title.
Located on the northeastern and northwestern end of Vancouver Island and the adjacent mainland, the Kwakiutl District Council works to protect the rights of the Kwakiutl First Nations and preserve the ancestral responsibilities set out for them. With a focus on unity and environmental stewardship, the council aims to ensure the rightful place of the Kwakiutl First Nations in the global community.
