Lassen National Forest is part of the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service. The department manages public lands in national forests and grasslands that are spread on an area of more than 190 million acres. Lassen National Forest lies in various counties, including Lassen, Shasta, Tehama, Butte, Plumas, Siskiyou and Modoc, Calif. The forest is spread over an area of more than 1 million acres and provides a variety of recreational and adventure programs. It offers various activities, including fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, bicycling, boating, snowmobile and cross-country skiing. Lassen National Forest also offers visits to Lava Tube and the Land of Ishi, the last survivor of the Yahi Yana Native American tribe. The forest also provides timber for homes, forage for livestock, water, minerals and several other natural resources. Lassen National Forest is located in Fall River Mills, Calif.
